Fran Ages is a photo based artist living in Ottawa, Canada specializing in portraiture. Her work enables her to speak with authenticity and search for objective truth: captivated by the geography of the face, subject’s body language and their individual life story. Fran has been strongly influenced by Richard Avedon’s American West and his ability to reveal depths of personality in simple, straightforward portraits.
She began formal training at the Boca Raton Museum, School of Photography in South Florida. Workshops in painting, polaroid transfers, video, watercolor and acrylic painting helped develop her visual language. Under the tutelage of Vincent Versace, Dan Burkholder, Joyce Tenneson, Jeremy Sutton and Michael Tardioli, she has continued to build on her present aesthetic. Fran recently completed the diploma program at the School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa in 2018.
Her portraits are held in private collections throughout Canada, United States, Italy, Cuba and Israel.
